The painting is considered one of John Bauer's last works as he perished with his family in November of the same year when the steamship Per Brahe sank in an autumn storm on Lake Vttern. In the picture we see a naked woman kneeling in a diffused landscape of plants in shades of blue. Her gaze is directed towards a black snake on the left. She appears to be picking the fruit hanging from the
